DuPont webinar: Calcium, the double edged sword

In poultry and pig diet formulation, calcium (Ca) is a necessary ingredient. Still, the title of this webinar clearly states that Ca is a ‘double-edged sword’ – and that is for a reason. In recent years, it has become clear that too much Ca, or too much difference in type or particle size of Ca can also be detrimental for digestion.

In short – textbooks around dietary formulation with regard to phytate, phytase and calcium are all in need of some revision. Things are even more inextricably connected than previously thought; making the right choices for correct diet formulation for the animals depends on more factors than was always known.
